Trigger Point Therapy
What is a 'Trigger Point'?
When muscles become irritated and inflamed they often tighten up and form what are known as 'Trigger Points'. These may form in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Trigger point symptoms stem from nerve compression and may include numbness, pins and needles, sharp shooting pains, and radiating pain to other parts of the body.

What causes a 'Trigger Point'?
Trigger points may develop from conditions such as neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, headaches, and many others. In today's society, we all are challenged with a variety of postural, biomechanical, and work-related stress. Electronic devices (smart phones, tablets, computers) present the human body with huge challenges in regards to ergonomics, posture, and musculoskeletal balance. Incorrect neck, back, and body posture leads to structural imbalance, nervous system interference, and 'trigger points'. Stress is another key player when it comes to how our body deals with tension in our muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
Do I need more than one 'Trigger Point Therapy session'?
A few trigger point injections are typically required for successful treatment. Occasionally one trigger point injection is all that is required. Then there are times when a series of trigger point injections are needed to release and rebalance the involved body regions.
